Derek Toshner

Derek Toshner earned four letters as a member of the track & field program, helping lead UWL to eight National Collegiate Athletic Assoociation (NCAA) Division III Championships.  The Eagles won four (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004) indoor and outdoor national titles. Toshner was also on seven Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) championship squads, including four outdoor (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004) and three indoor (2002, 2003, 2004). 

He earned 10 career NCAA Division III All-America accolades, including four indoor and six outdoor. Individually, Toshner was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles at the 2003 indoor championships. He was a member of two national champion 4x400-meter relays (2003, 2004) as well as a second-place 4x400-meter relay (2002). Toshner won three titles in the 400-meter hurdles (2002, 2003, 2004) at the NCAA III Outdoor Championships while finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles twice (2003, 2004).  He was also on UWL's seventh-place 4x400-meter relay (2002) to earn All-America honors.

Named to the WIAC All-Time Team, Toshner won 11 career league titles. He captured three indoor crowns, including the 55-meter hurdles (2004) and 4x400-meter relays (2001, 2003).  Toshner won eight WIAC outdoor crowns, including five individually.  He won three titles in the 400-meter hurdles (2002, 2003, 2004) and two in the 110-meter hurdles (2002, 2003).  Toshner was on three winning 4x400-meter relays (2001, 2002, 2003). 

Toshner was a two-time WIAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week selection. He holds the conference outdoor record in the 400-meter hurdles (50.09 in 2004) and is a member of the league's record in the 4x400-meter relay (3:07.78 in 2004) with Nate OlsonEric Svestka and Andrew Rock. Both times are also first in school history.  Toshner was named to the 2003 CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team. 

He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise sport science-fitness in 2004.
