Clifford Fagan

    A 1932 graduate of La Crosse State Teachers College, Clifford Fagan was executive director of the National Federation of State High School Associations for 20 years before retiring in 1977. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., in April of 1984 along with the basketball greats John Havlicek and Sam Jones, basketball coach Jack Garnder and athletic director Edward Steitz. Fagan is responsible for establishing many national athletic programs that benefit more than 20,000 high schools across the country.
    
    Fagan, a charter member of the Wisconsin High School Football Coaches Association, has been affiliated with several national and international athletic organizations. Among them are the national Federation of State High School Athletic Associations, Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, the United States Olypmic Committee Board of Directors and the Federation of International Basketball Associations.
    
    Fagan was secretary of the National Alliance Football Rules Committee and the National Basketball Committee of the United States and Canada. He is the founder and first president of both the Amateur Basketball Association in U.S.A. and the Confederation of Pan American Basketball Associations.
