Cathy Johnson Spies
Athlete 1975-1979
Cathy Johnson Spies took to the hardwood during college, participating in basketball and volleyball from 1975-1979. She helped the basketball teams earn three state championships and appearances in regional and national play.
In volleyball, she helped the team play to two state titles and national appearances. The 1979 health and physical education graduate with a coaching concentration also earned All-Conference honors in both sports.
Spies, a West Bend East High school graduate, continued that success at her high school's cross-town rival West Bend West. At West, she coached the girls' volleyball team from 1984-1994, earning four conference championships and second and third-place finishes at state.
