    Annastasia Batikis, a 1952 and 1960 graduate, participated in all intramural sports and play days, and belonged to the Women's Recreation Association while an undergraduate. There were no women varsity teams at that time. Batikis was among the 300 women inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, N.Y., in 1988.
    She played for the Racine Belles, part of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League that existed from 1943-1953. The league was portrayed in the reent movie "A League of Their Own." Batikis taught health and physical education in Manitowoc from 1952-54 and in Racine from 1954 until retiring in 1985.
