Athlete: 1977-1981
Running was important to Al Copperud. The Washburn, Wis., native continued his love of the sport by running with the cross country and track teams from 1978-1981. He helped the cross country team run to conference titles in '78 and '79, and the track team capture indoor titles from '79-'81 and outdoor titles from '78-'81.
He was an assistant coach with the track team in 1982 before graduating with a physical education degree in 1983. Copperud also succeeded off the team too, earning dean's list honors from 1979-1981.
